Video footage shot at Pioneer Park (Chatham, Illinois) and audio from an interview with Vicki Armstrong.

Adam Farcus / after the winter there’s always new life

June 25, 2021 by Terrain Exhibitions

This post is the first in a series of posts this summer highlighting the work of Terrain Residency artists. In this post we highlight the work of resident artist Adam Farcus.

The video posted above is an excerpt from some of the research and media Adam Farcus has collected over week one of the residency. For their stay at the residency, Farcus is exploring the emotional ramifications of climate change in the Springfield area.

Video description: A 20 second video of a forested area at night. The scene is predominantly black, some small amount of dark blue night sky is seen through the leaves, and fireflies are flashing bright yellow throughout the frame. A train can be faintly heard in the distance and a woman, Vicki Armstrong, speaks over the video: “Life continues to go on. Um… the, the energy of the life… is still there - it’s still going to come back. After the winter there’s always new life.”
