Loadstone
"Loadstone" is a site-specific sculptural intervention created by artist Dakota Parkinson. Made with raw clay, natural forces will change the surface and structure of "Loadstone" over the duration of the installation. Parkinson's ephemeral installation formally resembles foundational support structures: pillars and pylons. The surface references hand slipped vessels and clay wall adornment while evoking an image of derelict Midwestern Americana. She incorporates themes of industrial architecture, nationalism, decay, and human hand. Parkinson also invites you, the viewer, the comment on her work.
