Artist, Alex Hughes, invites your inner child to join the homebuilding alongside other industrious creatures of Indianapolis —repeat a form from nature in her front yard. When I see our stick-pile, typically utilized for firewood, I see forms of the praying mantis, I see rib cages, chandeliers, I see dancing bones and doorways. I invite neighbors to use the dead and down wood found this fall to build nests, walkways, acorn-soups, leaf-blankets, and arches like mine in this yard. Take notes from nature, like squirrels wintering with scraps of unwanted debris, nesting imperfectly, but securely into our urban tree-top canopy.
