Kellen Wright & SK Reed
Prairie Watchers at STNDRD

SK Reed and Kellen Wright's Prairie Watcher installation features collaborative sculptures at STNDRD Exhibitions native plant garden. The works are be comprised of Kansas City foraged clay sculptures, St. Louis rammed earth platforms, and invasive honeysuckle charcoal. STNDRD is an outdoor garden and flagpole project cultivated on a formally unused city block in Granite City, IL. The space has been transformed into a hub for arts and community. Inspired by the collectivity of the space and the species which coexist in the garden, Reed and Wright created ceramic sculptures which sit on top of rammed earth platforms. The artists found inspiration from the native plant garden. The queer artists consider the possibility and mutual aid of the garden. These ceramic creatures, part human, part prairie plant invite viewers to investigate their relationship to the species encountered in the garden, human and non-human.
