Ornaments
These sculptures draw inspiration from stone finial ornaments commonly found in similar locations on masonry and stone entrances and border areas of residential properties.
The sculptures were created by digging/sculpting into a soft clay mass. Each sculpture is an attempt to replicate or find an existing form. The final form is only seen after the work is cast and excavated from the clay. The dug out void is then filled with a mixture of sand, white cement, and water, setting the space permanently in the form of concrete. Subsequently, the form is dug out of the clay and inverted.
